Hi, I’m Emi Brown

I’m a software engineer who most recently worked for Amazon.com on trust and confidence features for emerging marketplaces. Alongside work and school, I’ve spent the last several years building all kinds of games and interactive tools: game jam entries, VR visualization apps with Google Cardboard, Minecraft experiences used by students in classroom settings, and more!

My path into games started early and took a lot of different forms: Hours of gaming with my friends inspired me to create my own Minecraft server and mods to play with them, which branched off into teaching summer camps at my local community Fab Lab and learning how to use Unity to make my own games. Later, I started making Minecraft plugins for an NSF-funded astronomy education project, a VR molecular visualization app for chemistry students, and dozens of smaller prototypes just to learn something new each time! This website is a showcase of different projects that I’ve been a part of.

Currently, I’m enrolled in an MS in Game Development program at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to learn more about game design. My main interest is in serious and prescription video games.

Please take a look around and have fun exploring the site!
